Support

Photocean is a photo library app for iPhone. It shows the photos on your Immich server together with the photos on your iPhone (MT Photos support is coming in a later version). Photocean has no server of its own: photos move only between your device and your server (see the Privacy Policy).

To report a problem or suggest an idea, open an issue at kingcarn/photocean-feedback. The issue form asks for the version and build number — you’ll find both at the top of Settings in the app.

You’re also welcome to join our Telegram group to chat with the developer and other users (requires access to Telegram).

If something is wrong with syncing, backups, or how photos appear, please attach a diagnostic log as well. How to export one, and what to check before you upload it, is covered in the repository’s README.

Try It Without a Server

Immich runs an official demo server. Add it under Settings › Sources in the app to see Photocean right away. Tap an address, account, or password once to select all of it.

Demo servers are public — anyone can see what’s on them, so don’t turn on backup or upload your own photos there. The Immich demo is reset regularly and has uploads turned off. The demo photos come from that server; Photocean still collects no data.

To see your own photos, set up a server of your own: Immich · Quick start

Can’t Connect to Your Server

First, check that the server address is complete, including https:// or http:// and the port. The first time you connect to an address on your local network, iOS asks for Local Network permission — after you answer, tap Connect again. Addresses on the public internet must use HTTPS with a valid certificate.

Some Photos Are Missing

The first sync goes through your whole library, which takes a while for a large library; you can follow its progress in Settings › Sources. People, place names, and smart albums fill in once that background work finishes.

What Free Up Space Deletes

It deletes only the copy on this device, and only for photos whose original is confirmed to be on your server. Deletion goes through the iOS confirmation dialog, and the photos move to Recently Deleted, where you can recover them for 30 days.

Moving to a New iPhone

If you turned on iCloud Backup, the app offers to restore it when you install it on the new iPhone. It restores your settings, sources, and the way you’ve organized things; the photos themselves stay on your server. Source passwords aren’t in the backup, so you’ll sign in to each source again.

Subscriptions and Refunds

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by the App Store. To manage or cancel a subscription, open the Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. To request a refund, contact Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Requirements

An iPhone with iOS 26.1 or later.
